  DC2015 New Release: Brochure "Return to Jehovah" for those who faded/left

  it would be written specifically for those faded or da/df.chapters are:a letter from the governing body1.

  i'm in contact with service and writing and brochure first step there bleeding publishers they can't take it anymore publishers are depressed because they feel they must shun others and they know it's unloving.

  Could you help me with a little Witness history ?

  as part of a student film project that i am completing i will be conducting a telephone interview with an exjw tomorrow.. the person i am interviewing was a witness between the years of the 50's (born in) - late 80's so obviously would have been in their late teens for the prophecies and events of 1975.. as this person is older than i, i am plan to tailor my questions around being a witness in that time period.

  i just wonder if you could point me in the direction of any more date specific events surrounding this time period that i could touch upon in my interview ?.

  The following is a list of things going on at that time.

  • Witness kids quitting school to pioneer.
  • Witnesses ignoring Medical and Dental problems because the end was so close.
  • Debt was incurred by many JW's who thought they'd never have to pay it and saving for the future was sign of your lack of faith.
    
  • People were quitting jobs and selling homes to Pioneer out the remainder of the old system (including mine)
  • The placement of tracts rather than magazines was instituted because the end was so near. Tract #3 was supposed to be the last one before the end.
  • The JW's in Malawi Africa were under persecution for not buying a political card. (unknown to us all, the Watchtower Society belonged to the U. N.) There was a mass letter writing campaign to (Hastings?) Banda the ruler of Malawi.
    
  • Russia was still a threat and it was taught that they would play a key part in Bible fulfillment about the end.
  • There was an energy crisis/Gas shortage....people were lining up for gas that cost almost a dollar. This surely had to be the end.
  • Jacques Cousteau was predicting there would be no life left in the sea by the year 2000.
  • No colored shirts on the platform. No skirts higher than the middle of sisters knees, No sideburns or moustaches.
  • Organ transplants were considered cannibalism by JW's.
  • People were rehearsing at meeting, how to go undercover with the preaching activity and meetings during the Great Tribulation.
  • The Book Study group meeting was called the "Rendezvous " and was to be our lifeline during the Tribulation.
  • Due to the closeness of the end, interested ones would not be studied with longer than 6 months if they weren't progressing enough to reach the point of baptism.
  • You could be publically reproved if you broke off your marriage engagement .
  • Assemblies were 8 days long and were held from 9 AM to PM.
  • Several new books were introduced at each assembly...each was considered ground breaking.
    
  • The assemblies served full hot meals.

  Yes, its the same woman but the angle and lighting of the first photo and the clothes she's wearing in it are more flattering than th intentionally frumpy outfit she has on in the second group of photos. She's likely going for a more conservative image these days, especially during the trial.

  You dear reader you may wonder why someone such as myself is living in this drought prone part of the world. Without going into great detail, detail that I fear would reveal much about my own character, I will simply tell you this and say no more.

  When my Grandfather left the old country and ventured his way to this unknown land, it wasn't because he was poor or starving or lacking in any way as was so often the case with immigrants in his day. It was really quite the opposite in fact. The leaving of his ancestral home and all he had coming to him as the eldest son, was precipitated by a great uproar of voices, the slamming of doors and the sound of hooves on a rain soaked earth as he galloped off into the night on horseback.

  We were trained by the best in the business. The Watchtower and Awake magazines have "capitalized"on the "errors and seeming mistakes" of every religion on the planet and shamed them publicly for it for decades.

  Why do I suddenly want to start reading JW literature and going to Kingdom Halls?

  is good calling me back or am i just letting my emotions get the best of me?also i really want to be closer to my jw family.

  btw i was never baptized and i consider myself a born again christian i go to a baptist church and wath televangelist and i have expirenced gods presence like never before but sometimes i get fearful and think "what if jws are right and i'm wrong" than i'm screwed!but if there wrong and i'm right it doesn't look to good for them.. i would prefer if nobody posted "god isn't real" type comments.

  i truly believe he is real but i respect why some are atheists..

  What is the fate of the millions of people who lived before Jehovah's Witnesses even existed, say from 1898 on back ? Will their reading of the Bible on their own and developing a personal relationship with God and his Son without the Watchtower Society's influence be enough to save them from everlasting cutting off? If God has good things in store for mankind, why wouldn't you be part of it? Why would you receive the same everlasting punishment as Adolf Hitler just because you don't agree with or understand the ever changing doctrines of Jehovah's Witnesses, especially since you are obviously seeking him out ? Surely he (if he exists) must see how confusing it all is to us.

  If anything, he may be angry with JW's for turning people (like me) away from him and ruining their interest in having anything to do with religion or the Bible ever again.

  Drugs and Alcohol Ruin Your Life

  this point was raised in another thread vaguely, and wanted to try and expand on it.. the wt has said (and rightly so in my opinion) "that excessive use of drugs and alcohol can ruin your life".

  in my eyes this is a fact.. this is where it starts to get a little suspicious, as they also say (or subtly hint at) "that if you leave the wt you will becoming addicted to drugs and alcohol and will ruin your life".. its almost like a self fulfilling prophecy.

  as there are a lot who leave the borg and they do start drinking heavy or smoking, or taking drugs...or whatever.. the wt capitalizes on the fact that people want more freedom, and they subtly ingrain the thought that.

  I'm sure if this is true about former JW"s being prone to drug and alcohol abuse, it's due to the fact that they are suffering from a case of "arrested development"

  "Born in's" or those who have been "in" a long time, have been using their religion as a means to cope with the realities of life. They often have developed little or no coping skills and turn to the most readily available means to ease the anxiety of being "out there without a net" once their support system is no longer in place.
